Massive Fire At Hotel Arpit Palace In Karol Bagh, Delhi: 17 Lost

Central Area of Delhi’s Karol Bagh is a place for many hotels jam-packed together. In the early hours of today, at around 04:35 am one such congested hotel named Hotel Arpit Palace engulfed in fire. The fire spread so soon that there were casualties reported. The rescue operations went on for four long hours, saving around 50 people from the growing fire. There were instances where a few people have jumped off the building to avoid the fire, and have hurt themselves.


Fire tenders with rescuers in ready set go positions were soon there to attend to the trapped. About 22 Fire Tenders were brought there and they have been into their dousing act till 07:30 am. It was when the fire was brought under control. At 08:00 am onwards they have started the cooling down process.

Out of the 50 rescued by the fire-fighters, 35 were rescued safely without any major harm but just minor breathing suffocation. There are others who were severely affected and they are undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital named RML Hospital.


17 were killed in the incident who could not be saved despite the efforts of the rescuers. These figures of casualties were shared by the hospital but the official numbers are yet to be out. The cause of the fire is still filled with uncertainty.



The officials suspect a short-circuit in one of the electrical rooms of the hotel. But they are conducting investigations to find out the real cause. Even the Fire Department has issued a separate investigation team to study the cause and reason behind the massive fire. No case was registered yet against the Hotel if so, it would be a ‘Case Of Negligence’.
