The next big in India is surely the #metoo movement. While the movement is concerned with harassment cases; it also is bringing in the strong topic of gender equality. Killing patriarchy under its feet, the revolution to bring women in equal terms to men -is the biggest change 2018 or maybe what the entire decade has brought in. As always, this revolution too is empowered by celebrities across the nation and abroad. Bollywood -as always- has played a major role in bringing out the change and spreading awareness among people. But the fact that a woman is included in the list of Top 5 highest-earning Indian celebrities, is making people cheers for team women this time.
After being featured in TIME Magazine list of 100 most influential people in the world, is included in the Forbes list of highest earning Indian celebrities -TOP 5, Deepika has tasted the most success in the recent time. “It’s really bizarre, Always wondered while growing as to how the people on this list felt who are featured on it and randomly, I don’t know I was on the list. Me and my team received this email from them confirming I am on the list last year and I reread the email, thinking if someone was doing a prank,” she says.
She continues, “We are in a very interesting time, there is so much talk about diversity equality, and in a time like that breaking into top 5 is something that I will very openly say that I very proud because that hasn’t fallen in my Lap and I have worked very hard for it. In terms of remuneration, be it any field we need to acknowledge women’s contribution to the field.”
The actress has done ‘Padmaavat’ this year, which went on to become the second highest grosser film of the year. With the earnings of ₹112.8 crore, Deepika the 4th highest earning Indian celebrity of 2018. MS Dhoni, Akshay Kumar, Virat Kohli and Salman Khan too make it in the TOP 5.
