The warned severity

Parts of northern Tamilnadu and Puducherry are likely to face Extremely heavy rainfall. Heavy to very heavy rainfall very much expected in the areas of south coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamilnadu, Rayalaseema and few places of Kerala. Chennai seems to only receive moderate rainfall. The IMD have said in its reports.

The deep cyclonic depression that arose from the Bay of Bengal is currently about 740 km North East of Chennai and was expected to burst soon. The cyclone seems to gradually pass over the coast. The severity may maintain its nature and hover over other few places. Hopefully some of those places are isolated and not have much population.

Officials have put a halt on many coastal fishing activities on both near and afar nature. The ones who are already many miles away in sea, are made to return to coasts immediately.

Disaster Evasion

TN Chief Secretary Girija Vaidyanathan along with the National Disaster Management Authority, National Disaster Response Force and the State’s Disaster Management Departments have had several talks and meetings for effective execution. As many as a 30,000 rescue personnel are kept ready, fully prepared to take course of saving people.

Low lying areas have a more severe threat compared to the ones on a higher sea level. Evacuation measures have been taken up in clearing out any possible difficulties. Food and drinking water along with other relief measures are kept available for usage. The relief centres can soothe the principal difficulties. If nature has made other plans to out do us then we would have to face a lot of problems.

The stormy winds that accompany the rains have also an earlier history of uprooting trees and houses. There is a lot of anticipation and fright sensed to the scenario. Hoping we would have no casualties and minimal damage.
