BJP Gets Trolled Over Tweet Explaining Fuel Price Rise

Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Monday led the Opposition charge against rising fuel prices and called for Bharat Bandh. Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar, and estranged Janata Dal (United) leader Sharad Yadav also joined the protest. Other Opposition leaders included Trinamool Congress’ Sukhendu Sekhar Ray, Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh, Janata Dal (Secular) leader Danish Ali and Rashtriya Lok Dal’s Jayant Chaudhary.

Apart from this, the battle between Congress & BJP now gone to social media. BJP tried to explain the rise in fuel price through the infographic. According to this, the percentage of rising in fuel price, the NDA government is far better than UPA.

According to BJP’s tweet, from May 16, 2004, to May 16, 2009, when the petrol prices rose from Rs 21.74 to 30.86. Similarly, between May 16, 2014, to September 10, 2018 prices decreased by 28 percent.

However, the tweet did not go well and congress official twitter handle started trolling BJP for the infographic.

Congress then took it upon themselves to correct the infographic and put out two infographics including international crude oil prices.

According to Congress’s tweet, from May 16, 2009, to May 16, 2014, when the petrol prices rose from Rs 40.62 to Rs 71.41, the crude oil prices also went up by 84 percent. Similarly, between May 16, 2014, to September 10, 2018, the crude oil prices decreased by 34 percent.
